As a highly sought-after expert in integrative psychotherapy and emotional eating, Sonya has been called upon by such organizations as the New York City Department of Education, POPPA NYPD, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, and New York City Department of Homeless Services. Sonya is gifted with an innate ability to connect with people, which causes them to relax their defenses and establish an unexpected trust. By combining her passions as a licensed mental health counselor – certified in mental health nutrition – a health coach, and dance fitness instructor, Sonya provides cutting-edge education on holistic practices to improve mental, cognitive, and physical health. She counsels hundreds of clients annually on how to identify behaviors that are crippling their lives as well as their families.
Sonya’s expertise has garnered her as a frequent guest speaker with various organizations and appearances as an expert panelist on nationally syndicated HOT97 radio station, News12, and The Source. She is a contributing mental health expert for The Source and a clinician with POPPA NYPD.
Sonya received her MHS from Lincoln University, is a member of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Services, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
