About this session

For the 2.3 million New Yorkers living with conviction histories, the majority of whom are Black and brown due to systemic racism, the associated barriers to jobs, housing, education, and more are significant. The Clean Slate NY Campaign is a statewide coalition fighting to change this through legislation to automatically expunge stale records. This legislation is especially crucial now to ensure that all New Yorkers are included in our state’s recovery from the pandemic and can fully and fairly participate in our shared communities. The workshop will consists of advocates and those directly impacted across our state to discuss the barriers one faces because of their record and what can be done to make this legislation a reality in New York.
